Dario Franchitti - #27 Andretti-Green Racing / Canadian Club Honda
You’ll notice from the picture below, Dario Franchitti is a good, proud son of Scotland,
flying the flag on his helmet. 2007 will be a busy year, for Dario Franchitti. He will run
the full Indy Racing League season for the Andretti-Green IRL team and do some part-time
work in the ALMS sports car series too. Dario will partner with Bryan Herta, and
brother, Marino Franchitti in the new Acura-powered #26 XM Satellite Radio Courage
chassis as the Andretti Green Racing organization starts a few events in the sports car series.
Dario Franchitti was almost the 1999 CART series champion. He and Juan Pablo
Montoya ties in the points chase, with 212, but Montoya was crowned champ in a tie
breaker of number of win in the year. (seven, Franchitti only had three).
Dario Franchitti is one of only 12 drivers to win in both the Indy Racing League and CART/ChampCars. As
the 2007 season starts, It is less well known that he is the winningest British driver in American open-wheel racing history.
