| 2004 NAIAS debut of the Chrysler ME412 Super Coupe
The NAIAS ( North American International Auto Show ) always has interesting
automobile debuts and design study previews. In 2003 Chrysler "wow-ed" the crowd
with the V-12 Viper engined Tomahawk Motorcycle.... No one expected 2004 would / could top it. We were all wrong. Most vehicles are announced during the show, but pre-show
media previews delute the surprise quotient. Chrysler executive staff were excited as
they unveiled a complete surprise to the show. It was the company's first-ever
mid-engined super car called the Chrysler ME Four-12. It was spectacular.
Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer - Chrysler Group was on stage to announce the car is
powered by an all-aluminum, quad-turbo, 6.0-liter V-12 engine. With electronic
sequential multipoint fuel injection and a 9.0:1 compression ratio, the ME Four-12ís
engine ( developed by AMG ) delivers 850 bhp on premium unleaded fuel available at
local gas stations in North America. The press kit says the ME Four-12 would run 0-60
mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-100 mph in 6.2 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 10.6 sec / 142 mph.
Computer models estimated a top speed of 248 mph. Will it be built??? Tease, Tease, as
always, but gossip was that it was designed out and could be in production in less the one
model year cycle..... if given the green light.
